The Government of Goa has introduced a beneficial scheme aimed at supporting fish vendors through financial assistance. This initiative ensures that vendors can purchase essential equipment, thereby promoting hygienic practices in fish vending.

The scheme titled “Financial Assistance to the Fish Vendors Registered with the Directorate of Fisheries to Purchase the Accessories Required for Fish Vending” is an initiative by the Department of Fisheries, Government of Goa. This program is designed to provide financial support to registered fish vendors, enabling them to acquire necessary items such as crates, weighing balances, insulated boxes, gloves, stools, platforms for displaying fish, umbrellas, choppers, and other essential equipment. The main objective is to ensure that fish is sold to consumers under hygienic conditions. Applications for this scheme are accepted exclusively in offline mode.

Key Benefits

  • For General Category: A subsidy of 50%, capped at ₹10,000, based on a unit cost of ₹20,000.
  • For SC/ST/Women Category: A subsidy of 60%, capped at ₹12,000, based on a unit cost of ₹20,000.

Note: Each beneficiary is eligible to avail of this scheme once every three years.

To qualify for this scheme, the applicant must be a registered fish vendor with the Department of Fisheries, Government of Goa.

Application Procedure

How to Apply Offline

  1. The prospective applicant must obtain the prescribed application form from the department by paying a fee of ₹50.
  2. Fill out the application form accurately, ensuring all mandatory fields are completed. Affix a passport-sized photograph (signed across, if necessary) and attach self-attested copies of all required documents.
  3. Submit the completed application form along with the necessary documents to the appropriate authority at the Department of Fisheries, located at Dayanand Bandodkar Marg, Patto Colony, Panaji, Goa – 403 521. Alternatively, submissions can be made to officials at the BDO Office or Sub-Offices of the Department of Fisheries.

Grievance Redressal Mechanism

If applicants face any issues or have complaints regarding the services or standards, they can file a grievance with the Grievance Redressal Officer of the Department. Complaints can also be lodged via email at [email protected]. All grievances will be acknowledged and addressed, with a response provided within 30 days.

of the Department of Fisheries.

Any dissatisfaction or complaint about any service or its standards can be registered with the Department's Grievance Redressal Officer
