Financial Assistance for Purchase of Stake Net and Its Accessories

The “Financial Assistance for Purchase of Stake Net and Its Accessories” initiative, launched by the Department of Fisheries, Government of Goa, aims to support local fishermen in acquiring essential fishing gear. This program is designed to provide financial relief through subsidies for the purchase of stake nets and their associated accessories, enhancing the livelihoods of those engaged in traditional fishing practices.

About the Scheme

This scheme is specifically tailored for traditional fishermen residing near riverbanks in Goa, where stake net fishing is a customary method. The Department of Fisheries offers subsidies to facilitate the purchase of stake nets and their accessories, thereby promoting sustainable fishing practices. It is important to note that applications for this financial assistance are accepted exclusively through offline channels.

Benefits of the Scheme

• General Category: Eligible beneficiaries can receive a subsidy of 50%, capped at ₹30,000, based on a unit cost of ₹60,000 (excluding GST).
• SC/ST/Woman Category: For members of these categories, a subsidy of 60% is available, limited to ₹36,000, also based on the unit cost of ₹60,000 (excluding GST).

Note: Beneficiaries are permitted to avail of this scheme once every three years.

Eligibility Criteria

• The applicant must be a traditional fisherman by birth or profession.
• Residency in Goa is a prerequisite for applicants.
• The applicant should have made a purchase of a stake net and its accessories.

Application Process

How to Apply Offline

• Step 1: Interested applicants must request the application form in the prescribed format from the department by paying a fee of ₹50.
• Step 2: Complete all required fields in the application form, attach a passport-sized photograph (signed, if necessary), and include copies of all mandatory documents (self-attested, if required).
• Step 3: Submit the filled and signed application form along with the necessary documents to the appropriate authority at the Department of Fisheries. The office is located at Dayanand Bandodkar Marg, Patto Colony, Panaji Goa – 403 521, or at the official’s office at the BDO Office/Sub-Offices of the Department of Fisheries.

Grievance Redressal

In case of any dissatisfaction or issues regarding services or standards, complaints can be lodged with the Department’s Grievance Redressal Officer. Grievances can also be submitted via email at [email protected]. All complaints will be acknowledged, and a response regarding the actions taken will be communicated within a period of 30 days.
