The “Supply of Insulated Boxes” scheme, initiated by the Department of Fisheries in Goa, aims to support local fishermen by offering substantial subsidies for the acquisition of insulated boxes. This initiative is particularly focused on enhancing the fish marketing process and ensuring better preservation of seafood during transportation.
Scheme Overview
This government initiative provides a remarkable subsidy of up to 75% on the purchase of insulated boxes with a minimum capacity of 50 liters. The program is tailored specifically for fishermen involved in the sale and marketing of fish, who operate either with canoes or mechanized boats equipped with engines having up to six cylinders. Applications for this scheme are accepted exclusively in offline mode.
Benefits of the Scheme
- For Fishermen Engaged in Selling/Marketing Fish: Eligible individuals can receive a subsidy of 75% on the cost of one insulated box with a capacity of 50 liters, capped at ₹1,500.
- For Fishermen Using Canoes: Beneficiaries can obtain one insulated box of 100 liters and another of 220 liters, both receiving a subsidy of 75% on costs, up to ₹7,000 in total.
- For Fishermen with Mechanized Fishing Vessels (Up to 6-Cylinder Engine): Assistance includes a subsidy of 75% on one insulated box of 220 liters and one of 400 liters, limited to ₹15,000.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this scheme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a fisherman engaged in the selling and marketing of fish.
- Be involved in fishing activities at sea with a canoe.
- Operate a mechanized fishing vessel with a maximum of six cylinders.
Application Process
To apply for the subsidy, interested fishermen must follow these steps:
- Step 1: Download and print the application form in the prescribed format.
- Step 2: Complete all mandatory fields in the application form, affix a recent passport-sized photograph (signed if required), and attach copies of all necessary documents (self-attested as needed).
- Step 3: Submit the completed and signed application form along with the accompanying documents to the appropriate authority at the Department of Fisheries, located at Dayanand Bandodkar Marg, Patto Colony, Panaji, Goa – 403 521, or to officials at BDO offices or Sub-Offices of the Department of Fisheries.
Grievance Redressal Mechanism
If applicants encounter any issues or wish to file a complaint regarding the services provided, they can reach out to the Grievance Redressal Officer of the Department. Complaints can also be submitted via email at [email protected]. All grievances will be acknowledged, and a response detailing the final actions taken will be communicated within a span of 30 days.

Benefits
For the Beneficiary Engaged in Selling/Marketing Fish
One insulated box of 50 liters capacity will be entitled to a subsidy to the extent of 75% of the cost limited to ₹ 1,500/-.
For the Beneficiary Engaged in Fishing at Sea With a Canoe
One insulated box of 100 liters and one box of 220 liters capacity and subsidy to the extent of 75% of the cost limited to ₹ 7,000/- respectively.
For the Beneficiary Engaged in Fishing at Sea With a Mechanized Fishing Vessel Upto 6 Cylinder Engine
One insulated box of 220 liters and one insulated box of 400 liters capacity and subsidy to the extent of 75% of the cost limited to ₹ 15,000/- respectively.
Application Process
Apply Offline
Step 1: The interested applicant should take print of the prescribed format
of the application form.
Step 2: In the application form, fill in all the mandatory fields, paste the passport-sized photograph (signed across, if required), and attach copies of all the mandatory documents (self-attest, if required).
Step 3: Submit the duly filled and signed application form along with the documents to the concerned authority at the Department of Fisheries, Dayanand Bandodkar Marg, Patto Colony, Panaji Goa - 403 521, or to the official posted at BDO Office/ Sub-Offices
of the Department of Fisheries.
Grievance Redressal
Any dissatisfaction or complaint about any service or its standards can be registered with the Department's Grievance Redressal Officer
