The Government of Rajasthan has initiated a commendable scheme aimed at supporting the children of ex-servicemen who wish to pursue vocational and technical education. This scheme offers a financial scholarship to ensure that these students receive the necessary support to further their education and skill development.
Overview of the Scheme
The “Scholarship for Children of Ex-Servicemen for Vocational and Technical Education” is an initiative by the Department of Sainik Welfare, Government of Rajasthan. It aims to provide financial aid of ₹15,000 annually to the children of ex-servicemen, specifically those holding the rank of Sepoy to Havildar. Eligible candidates must be enrolled in vocational or technical courses and must not be beneficiaries of any other scholarship programs, including the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme. This scheme started on July 1, 2020, and allows for a maximum of 50 scholarships to be awarded each year based on merit from the Amalgamated Fund.

Eligibility Requirements
- The applicant must be a resident of Rajasthan.
- The applicant must be the child of an ex-serviceman of the rank of Havildar or lower, or be their widow/dependent.
- The applicant must be enrolled in a vocational or technical education program recognized under the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS).
- The applicant should not currently benefit from the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme or any other scholarship program.
- This scholarship is not applicable in cases of Battle Casualty/Disability, as these situations are already covered by the Army Headquarters.
- The student must have successfully completed the previous academic year; failure to do so will lead to the discontinuation of the scholarship.
- No more than two children from a single ex-serviceman can receive this scholarship.
Note: Once awarded, the scholarship continues for the remainder of the course, subject to annual renewal. If a student fails in any academic year, the scholarship will be revoked for the entire duration of the course.
Application Procedure
Offline Application Process
- Step 1: Visit the District Sainik Welfare Office to obtain a hard copy of the application form or download it from the official website.
- Step 2: Complete the application form, ensuring all mandatory fields are filled out. Attach self-attested copies of required documents.
- Step 3: Submit the filled and signed application form along with the necessary documents to the District Sainik Welfare Office.
- Step 4: Ask for a receipt or acknowledgment upon submission. This receipt should include the submission date, time, and a unique identification number, if available.
Note: Applications must be submitted to the District Soldiers Welfare Officer by November 30.
Post-Application Process
- Step 1: The District Soldiers Welfare Officer reviews applications and forwards them to the Director of the Soldiers Welfare Department, Jaipur, by December 31.
- Step 2: A committee reviews and approves the applications by March 31.
- Step 3: The approved scholarship funds are sent to the District Soldiers Welfare Officer for distribution.
- Step 4: The scholarship amount is transferred to the beneficiary’s bank account within one month.
Yearly Renewal Process
- Step 1: After initial approval, the scholarship must be renewed each year for the duration of the course.
- Step 2: The renewal application requires a copy of the original marksheet.
- Step 3: Applications for renewal must be submitted within one year from the date of the result announcement. If a final marksheet is not issued, a passing certificate is required.

Apply Offline
Application Process:
Step 1: The interested applicant should visit the office of the District Sainik Welfare Office and request a hard copy of the prescribed format of the application form from the staff exclusively entrusted to issue and collect filled-in applications.

The applicant should download the application form from the official website (Link Page No.4).
Step 2: In the application form, fill in all the mandatory fields and attach copies of all the mandatory documents (self-attest, if required).
Step 3: Submit the duly filled and signed application form along with the documents to the District Sainik Welfare Office.
Step 4: Request a receipt or acknowledgment from the District Sainik Welfare Office to whom the application has been submitted. Ensure that the receipt contains essential details such as the date and time of submission and a unique identification number (if applicable).
Note: Applicants must submit their applications to the District Soldiers Welfare Officer by November 30.

Step 1: The District Soldiers Welfare Officer verifies applications and forwards them to the Director, Soldiers Welfare Department, Jaipur by December 31.
Step 2: A committee reviews and approves the applications by March 31.
Step 3: The approved scholarship amount is sent to the District Soldiers Welfare Officer for disbursement.
Step 4: The scholarship amount is transferred online to the beneficiary’s bank account within one month.

Step 1: The scholarship, after initial approval, must be renewed every year of the course.
