Silicosis Rehabilitation Pension – Haryana Silicosis Board

The “Silicosis Rehabilitation Pension” scheme, initiated by the Haryana Labour Welfare Board, aims to provide financial assistance to workers afflicted by silicosis. This initiative ensures that these individuals receive a monthly pension of ₹4,000, which continues for their lifetime, provided they meet specific criteria.

Overview of the Scheme

This scheme is designed to support workers diagnosed with silicosis, an irreversible lung condition commonly seen in environments such as stone quarries and mines. The pension is granted to those classified as category A, B, or C according to the International Labour Organization (ILO) standards. Eligibility is contingent upon a confirmed diagnosis from the Silicosis Diagnosis Board in Haryana.

It is important to note that silicosis is recognized as a notifiable disease under the Factories Act of 1948 and the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act of 1996. Workers confirmed with the disease receive prompt medical care, either through Employee State Insurance (ESI) facilities or free treatment at district hospitals and medical colleges, with the Labour Department facilitating necessary reimbursements for unavailable treatments.
