Subsidy for the Purchase of Wooden/Fiber Reinforced Plastic/Steel Mechanised Boats
The “Subsidy for the Purchase of Wooden/Fiber Reinforced Plastic/Steel Mechanised Boats” scheme has been launched by the Government of Puducherry. This initiative aims to enhance marine fish production by providing financial assistance for acquiring various types of mechanized boats, including wooden, fiber-reinforced plastic, and steel options.
Overview of the Scheme
This scheme operates as a sub-component under the broader initiative known as “Financial Assistance for Availing Subsidy Components for the Development of Marine Fisheries,” managed by the Department of Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare, Government of Puducherry. Advantages of the Scheme
- 50% subsidy, capped at ₹7,50,000, for mechanized boats longer than 47 feet, linked to bank financing for new fishing vessels.
- 50% subsidy, up to ₹11,00,000, for steel mechanized boats measuring between 45 to 54 feet, also tied to bank financing for new purchases.
- 50% subsidy, with a maximum of ₹2,50,000 per boat, for converting or modernizing an existing mechanized fishing boat (with a unit cost of ₹5,00,000).
- 50% subsidy, not exceeding ₹5,00,000, for upgrading existing mechanized fishing boats of 43 feet and above specifically for tuna long lining (unit cost of ₹10,00,000).
