The Kerala Government, through its Department of Social Justice, has introduced the “Marriage Assistance for Legally Married Transgender Couples” scheme. This initiative aims to provide financial support to transgender individuals who are legally married and have undergone Sex Reassignment Surgery (SRS), facilitating their transition to a stable family life.

Launched to empower the transgender community in Kerala, the “Marriage Assistance for Legally Married Transgender Couples” scheme offers monetary assistance of ₹30,000/- to eligible couples. This financial aid is designed to support those who have taken significant steps toward legal recognition of their marriages and wish to lead a fulfilling family life.

Eligibility Requirements

• The applicant must identify as transgender.

• Applications must be submitted within 6 months to 1 year following the date of marriage.
• At least one partner in the couple must belong to the transgender community.
• Individuals who have previously availed of this financial assistance and are applying for a second marriage after divorce are not eligible for additional support.

Application Procedure

Online Application

To apply for the scheme online, follow these steps:

• Step 1: Visit the SUNEETHI Online Service Application Portal.
• Step 2: Click on “One Time Registration” on the homepage.
• Step 3: Enter your Name, Email ID, and Mobile Number, then click on ‘Register’.
• Step 4: Input the verification code received on your mobile and click ‘Verify’.
• Step 5: A form will appear to create your new profile. Fill in all required details and click ‘Register’.

Login/Application Process

• Step 1: After registration, revisit the SUNEETHI Online Service Application Portal and select “Citizen Login”.
• Step 2: Enter your Mobile Number as the username and your password, then click “Sign In”.
• Step 3: Update your profile with Personal Information, Contact Details, Identity Cards, and Bank Details by clicking the ‘Edit’ button.
• Step 4: After updating your profile, the available schemes will appear on the left sidebar.
• Step 5: Select the scheme and then click the “Apply Now” button.
• Step 6: Fill in the mandatory details in the application form and hit the ‘Submit’ button.

Note: Applications for financial assistance should be made within 6 months to 1 year after marriage.

Offline Application

For those preferring to apply offline, the following steps should be taken:

• Step 1: Visit the official website of the Social Justice Department, Government of Kerala, and download the application form.
• Step 2: Complete the application form with all necessary information.
• Step 3: Submit the filled application form along with required supporting documents to the District Social Justice Officer.

Note: Ensure to apply for financial assistance within 6 months to 1 year from the marriage date.
