Laxman Award / Rani Laxmi Bai Award Scheme

The “Laxman Award/Rani Laxmi Bai Award” initiative has been established by the Sports Department of the Uttar Pradesh Government to recognize exceptional athletes within the state. This prestigious accolade is designated for male sportspersons under the Laxman Award and for female sportspersons under the Rani Laxmi Bai Award.

Scheme Overview

The Uttar Pradesh Government has initiated the “Laxman Award/Rani Laxmi Bai Award” to celebrate the achievements of sportspersons in the state. Athletes excelling in 31 different sports disciplines will be honored with the Laxman Award for males and the Rani Laxmi Bai Award for females.

Advantages of the Award

Recipients of this award will be granted:

• A Citation recognizing their achievements
• A Bronze statue representing either Laxman or Rani Laxmi Bai
• A Scroll commemorating their success
• A cash prize amounting to ₹3,11,000/-

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Laxman Award or Rani Laxmi Bai Award, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• The individual must be a bona fide resident of Uttar Pradesh.
• The sportsperson must have been a member of the state senior team for the years 2018-19, 2019-20, and 2020-21, and have actively participated in the National Games/National Senior Championship during the 2021-22 season.
• Achievements in international competitions such as the Olympic Games, World Championships, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and others will also be considered for eligibility.
• Applicants must provide an affidavit confirming that they have never engaged in drug use in any sports event and have not been found guilty of related offenses.
• An oath must be included in the application stating that they have not been involved in any legal proceedings or found guilty of sexual harassment.
• The awards are available to sportspersons excelling in 31 specific disciplines, including Swimming, Archery, Athletics, Badminton, and more.
• Each individual can receive the award only once.
• The Government reserves the right to revoke an award and require the return of the statue and inscription if necessary, with no possibility for appeal.
• Recommendations or pleas regarding nominations will result in disqualification.

Application Procedure

Interested candidates must follow the steps outlined below to apply for the award:

• Step 1: Obtain the official application form in the prescribed format.
• Step 2: Complete the application form by filling in all required fields, affixing a passport-sized photograph (signed if necessary), and attaching self-attested copies of all essential documents.
• Step 3: Submit the completed and signed application form along with the necessary documents to the designated sports officer in the respective district.
• Step 4: Request a receipt or acknowledgment upon submission to confirm that your application has been received, ensuring it includes the date, time of submission, and a unique identification number if available.
