The “Jeevanam Self-Employment Scheme for Dependents of Crime Victims” is an initiative from the Department of Social Justice, Government of Kerala. This scheme aims to bolster victim support services across the state by offering financial aid to both victims of crime and their dependents, ensuring they can regain their footing in society.

The financial assistance offered aims to support those who have lost their primary breadwinners or have been severely injured due to criminal acts. Benefits of the Scheme

Under this initiative, eligible beneficiaries will receive a one-time financial assistance of ₹20,000. This amount will be directly credited to the bank account of the approved applicant.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the benefits under the Jeevanam Self-Employment Scheme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• The applicant must be a native and resident of Kerala.
• The individual must either be a crime victim who has sustained serious injuries or a dependent—such as a spouse or unmarried child—of the crime victim.
• The family’s annual income should not exceed ₹1,00,000.
• The application must be submitted within five years of the crime occurrence.

Note: Selected beneficiaries are required to sign an agreement with the Department of Social Justice on a stamp paper worth ₹200 to comply with the above criteria.

Application Process

Interested applicants can apply for the scheme through both online and offline methods. Below are the steps for each process:

Online Application Process

To apply online, follow these steps:

1. Visit the SUNEETHI – Online Service Application Portal.
2. On the homepage, click on “One Time Registration”.
3. Enter your details such as Name, Email ID, and Mobile Number, then click ‘Register’.
4. You will receive a verification code on your mobile. Enter this code to verify your registration.
5. A form will appear for creating a new profile. Complete all mandatory fields and click ‘Register’.

After registration, proceed with the application:

1. Return to the SUNEETHI portal and click on “Citizen Login”.
2. Input your username (Mobile Number) and password, then click “Sign in”.
3. Update your personal information, contact details, identity cards, and bank information by clicking the ‘Edit’ button.
4. Once your profile is updated, the available schemes will be displayed on the left side of the screen.
5. Select the Jeevanam Scheme and click the “Apply Now” button.
6. Complete the application form with all required details and submit it.

Offline Application Process

For offline applications, follow these steps:

1. Visit the official website of the Social Justice Department, Government of Kerala, to download the application form.
2. Fill out the application form thoroughly.
3. The completed application, along with all necessary documents, should be submitted to the relevant District Probation Office.

Note: Applications must be submitted within five years of the crime.
