The D. D. Kosambi Research Fellowship Scheme, initiated by the Directorate of Art and Culture of the Government of Goa, aims to empower scholars in their pursuit of research related to the rich history, culture, and societal dynamics of Goa. This initiative is designed to foster academic exploration in various fields, including Goan history, arts, culture, and social studies. Each year, up to three fellowships will be granted, categorized by junior, senior, and post-doctoral levels.

Benefits of the Fellowship
The fellowship offers significant financial incentives for eligible researchers:
- Junior Category: Scholars will receive a monthly fellowship of up to ₹15,000 for a duration of two years, evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
- Senior & Post-Doctoral Categories: Eligible candidates in these categories can secure a monthly fellowship of ₹20,000 for a maximum of two years, subject to case-by-case review.
- For those who commit to full-time research, a scholarship of up to ₹30,000 per month may be awarded, with the research period determined by the selection committee.
Number of Fellowships Offered
Each year, a maximum of one fellowship will be granted in each category, ensuring focused support for deserving candidates.
Note: The fellowship amount is contingent upon the recommendations made by the selection committee following the submission of the project proposal.
Eligibility Criteria
- Individuals aged up to 35 years, holding a post-graduate degree, can apply for the junior category.
- Applicants who are over 35 years of age and have completed their post-graduation are eligible for the senior category.
- Those who possess a PhD are qualified to apply for the post-doctoral category, with no age restrictions applicable.
- Each scholar can receive the fellowship once in their lifetime for each category.
Application Process
To apply for the D. D. Kosambi Research Fellowship, follow these steps:
- Step 1: Visit the Directorate of Art & Culture, Government of Goa, located at 5th Floor, Shram Shakti Bhavan, Panaji, Goa – 403001.
- Step 2: Print the application form for the fellowship or request a physical copy from the relevant office.
- Step 3: Complete all required fields in the application form, attach a passport-sized photograph (signed on the front), and include copies of all necessary documents (self-attestation may be required).

Benefits
Eligible scholars for the junior category shall be awarded a fellowship up to ₹ 15,000/- per month for a maximum period of 2 years, on a case-to-case basis.
Eligible scholars for senior & post-doctoral categories shall be awarded a fellowship of ₹ 20,000/- per month for a maximum period of 2 years, on a case-to-case basis.
However, the applicant who undertakes to complete the research work on a full-time basis may be awarded the scholarship upto ₹ 30,000/- per month. In such cases, the research period shall be as decided by the selection committee.
Number of Fellowships
A maximum of one fellowship in each category shall be awarded every year.
NOTE: The amount of fellowship shall be assessed on the recommendation of the selection committee after the submission of his/her project.

Step 2: Take a print of the proforma of the application form of the respective scheme, or request a hard copy from the concerned authority.
Step 3: In the application form, fill in all the mandatory fields, paste the passport-sized photograph (signed across), and attach copies of all the mandatory documents (self-attest if required).
