The AICTE-LILAVATI AWARD is a pivotal initiative designed to honor the commendable efforts made by AICTE-approved institutions in promoting gender equality and fairness for women across various aspects of life. This scheme serves as a platform for stakeholders, particularly female students, to address pressing issues of gender discrimination, including illiteracy, unemployment, and health disparities.

Overview of the Scheme

Introduced by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the AICTE-LILAVATI AWARD aims to empower women by encouraging institutions to promote gender equality. Participants are invited to present innovative solutions to challenges faced by women, such as nutritional and economic disparities, maternal health issues, and violations of human rights. This initiative also provides an opportunity to showcase existing successful efforts towards women’s empowerment.

Objectives of the Scheme

• To raise awareness regarding sanitation, hygiene, health, and nutrition by utilizing indigenous resources.
• To enhance knowledge about literacy, employment, technology, and rights among women while improving digital literacy for financial empowerment.
• To foster the development of girls and adolescents, promoting gender equality and facilitating access to essential services.
• To educate marginalized women about nutrition, food security, and health services, thereby breaking the cycle of malnutrition.
• To inform women about various governmental policies and schemes for Women & Child Development and encourage them to access these benefits.
• To promote self-reliance and gender equity, enhancing entrepreneurial skills among rural women.
• To empower communities through collective efforts, extending the impact to adjacent villages.
• To inspire competitive spirit and encourage participation of girls in sports.
• To motivate young women to explore careers in various fields, including law enforcement and other professions.

Targeted Sub-Themes

The AICTE-LILAVATI AWARD 2021-22 invites applications from teams that have implemented impactful interventions in the following sub-themes:

• Women and Adolescent Health: Addressing nutrition, maternal health, and mental health issues.
• Self Defence: Training programs for safety and awareness regarding domestic violence and harassment.
• Environment, Sanitation & Hygiene: Promoting cleanliness and hygiene within communities.
• Literacy and Life Skills: Improving access to educational resources and reducing dropout rates among girls.
• Women Entrepreneurship: Facilitating business opportunities and financial safety for women.
• Legal Awareness: Educating women about their rights and gender equality.
• Technology for Women: Utilizing innovative technology to empower women in various fields.
• Women Innovators (Rural/Urban): Supporting and promoting women innovators and patent filing.

Benefits of the Scheme

Winners of the AICTE-LILAVATI AWARD will receive recognition and financial rewards, with a total of 24 awards distributed among the sub-themes as follows:

Eligibility Criteria

• Participants must be students or faculty members from AICTE-approved technical institutions or deemed universities.
• The team should have made a notable impact through interventions in the sub-themes.
• Work showcased must have been undertaken in the two years preceding the award announcement.
• Each team may consist of a maximum of five members, of which at least two must be women.

Application Process

To apply for the AICTE-LILAVATI AWARD, follow these steps:

Online Registration

1. Visit AICTE Lilavati Award Registration.
2. Enter your Permanent Institute ID (PID) and click on the ‘Get Details’ button.
3. Provide your Email ID and create a password, then click on ‘Sign Up’.
4. Activate your account via the email received post-registration.

Post-Registration Process

1. Log in at AICTE Lilavati Award Login using your email and password.
2. Complete the ‘Institute Details’ and ‘HOI Details’ sections.
3. Access the ‘Faculty’ tab to view faculty information.
4. Fill out the ‘Application Form’ with all necessary details.
5. Check the box for agreement and click ‘Submit’.
6. Proceed to submit Part 2 of your application under the ‘Application Form II’ tab.
