The U.T. Administration launched the “Saraswati Vidya Yojana” on February 25, 2021, with the intention of supporting girl students in their educational journeys. The primary goals include:

• Supporting the national initiative of “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao,” which advocates for the education and empowerment of girls.

This sub-scheme’s main aim is to promote retention among girl students at the Secondary and Higher Secondary levels by providing them with bicycles. This measure is expected to significantly decrease the dropout rates among female students by facilitating easier access to schools.

• The applicant must be a girl.

Application Procedure

Offline Application Process

To apply for the bicycle scheme, the following steps should be followed:

• The Head Master or In-charge Head Master is responsible for reporting the number of girl students enrolled in class VIII at government and government-aided schools to the District Education Office.

Note: Individual applications from girl students are not required. Bicycles will be allocated to schools at the beginning of the academic year based on the specific needs of each institution.
