The Government of Puducherry’s Department of Social Welfare has launched the “Supply of Invalid Carriages (Motorized Tri-cycles) to Persons With Disabilities” scheme. This initiative aims to provide motorized tricycles at no cost to individuals with disabilities who are either engaged in productive employment or pursuing educational opportunities.

This scheme, titled “Supply of Invalid Carriages (Motorized Tri-cycles) to Persons With Disabilities,” is specifically designed to offer motorized tricycles free of charge to differently-abled individuals residing in Puducherry. The primary goal is to enhance mobility for those who are either working or seeking higher, professional, or technical education.

Eligibility Requirements
- The applicant must be a resident of the Union Territory of Puducherry for a minimum of five years.
- The applicant’s annual income should not surpass ₹75,000.
- A locomotor disability affecting the lower limbs must be certified at a minimum of 65%.
- The applicant must obtain certification from a medical authority confirming their fitness to operate the motorized tricycle.
- Applicants should not receive transport allowances from any department or source.
- The applicant must be engaged in gainful employment or be pursuing higher education.
Application Process
Offline Application Procedure
- The interested applicant should visit the Office or Sub-Office of the Department of Social Welfare during office hours and request a hard copy of the application form from the designated staff.
- Alternatively, applicants may download and print the prescribed application form.
- Complete all mandatory fields in the application form, affix a passport-sized photograph (sign across if needed), and attach copies of all required documents (self-attested if necessary).
- Submit the filled application form along with the attached documents to the relevant authority:
- Puducherry: The Deputy Director, Differently Abled Section, Directorate of Social Welfare.
- Karaikal: The Assistant Director, Social Welfare Department (Sub Office).
- Mahe/Yanam: The Welfare Officer (in charge), Social Welfare Department (Sub Office).
- Request a receipt or acknowledgment upon submission. Ensure that the receipt includes essential details such as the date and time of submission and a unique identification number (if applicable).
Online Application Procedure
- Access the official website of the e-District Portal of the Government of Puducherry.
- Click on “Login” located at the top right corner of the home page. Choose “Register a New Membership.”
- On the registration page, fill in all required fields: Username, Password, Confirm Password, and Personal Details (Full Name, Email Address, Address, Gender, Date of Birth, Mobile Number). Agree to the declaration and complete the Captcha code. Click “Signup.”
- Return to the e-District Portal’s official website and log in with your new credentials.
- Once logged in, a list of government schemes will appear. Select the relevant scheme to proceed to the online application form.
- Fill out all mandatory fields marked with a red asterisk and upload necessary documents (self-attested where applicable).
- Check the declaration indicating that the provided details are accurate, then submit the application. Make a note of the application number for tracking purposes. This number will also be sent to your registered mobile number and email address.

Apply Offline
Step 1: The interested applicant should visit (during office hours) the Office/ Sub-Office
of the Department of Social Welfare, and request the hard copy of the prescribed format of the application form from the staff exclusively entrusted to issue and collect filled-in applications.

The interested applicant should take print of the prescribed format
of the application form.
Step 2: In the application form, fill in all the mandatory fields, paste the passport-sized photograph (signed across, if required), and attach copies of all the mandatory documents (self-attest, if required).
Step 3: Submit the duly filled and signed application form along with the documents to the authority given below -
Puducherry: The Deputy Director, Differently Abled Section, Directorate of Social Welfare.
Karaikal: The Assistant Director, Social Welfare Department (Sub Office).
Mahe / Yanam: The Welfare Officer (ic), Social Welfare Department (Sub Office).

Step 3: On the Registration Page, fill in all the mandatory fields: Username, Password, Confirm Password, Personal Details (Full Name, First Name, Email Address, Address, Current Address, Gender, Date of Birth, Mobile Number). Agree to the declaration. Fill in the Captcha Code, and click "Signup".
Step 4: Visit the Official Website
of the e-District Portal of the Government of Puducherry.
Step 5: At the top right corner of the home page, click "Login
". In the login screen, provide your Username and Password, fill in the Captcha Code, and click "Sign In".
Step 6: On the next screen, a list of schemes by the Government of Puducherry will be displayed Department-wise.
Step 7: Click on the scheme you wish to apply for. You will be taken to its online application form.
Step 8: In the application form, fill in all the mandatory fields (marked with a red asterisk) and upload all the mandatory documents (self-attest if required).
Step 9: Tick the declaration stating "I hereby declare that the above-mentioned details are true and correct as per the best of my Knowledge". Submit the application and note the application number for tracking your application
. The application number will also be received on your Registered Mobile Number / Registered Email ID.
