Mukhyamantri Sampoorna Pushti Yojana: Purna Aahaara for Children (6 months – 5 years)

The scheme aims to provide nutritional support to Severely Acute Malnourished (SAM) children. Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries are provided Take Home Ration (THR) of 3 kg per month, along with 30 eggs per month, for a duration of 112 days.

About This Scheme

The “Purna Aahaara for Children (6 month – 5 years)” scheme is a component under the “Mukhyamantri Sampoorna Pushti Yojana (MSPY)” scheme, implemented by the Department of Women & Child Development, Government of Odisha. The scheme follows a community-based approach for the management of acute malnutrition and aims to provide nutritional support to Severely Acute Malnourished (SAM) children. Purna Aahaara is an initiative erstwhile Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) programme.

Benefits

Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries are provided Take Home Ration (THR) of 3 kg per month, along with 30 eggs per month, for a duration of 112 days from the date of enrollment.

Note: Parents and caregivers are requested to have their children’s growth monitored at Anganwadi Centre (AWCs) and take special care of them.

Eligibility Criteria

The beneficiary must be a resident of Odisha.

The beneficiary must be a child aged between 6 months and 5 years.

The child must be identified as Severely Acute Malnourished (SAM) by an Anganwadi Worker or ICDS functionary.

Application Process

Apply Offline

Step 1: The parent or caregiver visits the nearest Anganwadi Centre (AWC) under the ICDS Project.

Step 2: The Anganwadi Worker (AWW) assesses the child’s nutritional status to identify Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM).

Step 3: Upon confirmation, the child is enrolled under the “Purna Aahara” component of MSPY.

Step 4: The AWW records details and starts the distribution of THR (3 kg/month) and 30 eggs/month for 112 days.

Step 5: Parents must bring the child for periodic growth monitoring and nutritional counselling.

Step 6: After completion of the 112-day period, the child’s growth is evaluated.

Step 7: If the child achieves normal nutritional status, they are shifted to the regular Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP).
