The scheme aims to promote sustainable agriculture and organic farming by providing financial assistance for setting up vermicompost units to farmers and women self-help groups.

About This Scheme

The scheme “Establishment of Vermicompost Units” is implemented by the Department of Horticulture, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to promote sustainable agriculture and organic farming by providing financial assistance for setting up vermicompost units to farmers and women self-help groups.

Benefits

Under this scheme, a subsidy of 75% of the cost, up to ₹33,300/- per unit, is provided for setting up vermicompost units (including pit construction and provision of earthworms).

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must be a resident of Uttarakhand.

The applicant must be a farmer and must hold a valid Udhyan Card.

The applicant must have either their own land or land on lease.

All women members of self-help groups are also eligible to avail benefits under the scheme.

Application Process

Apply Offline

Applications for establishment of vermicompost units must be submitted to the officers or staff at the Horticulture Mobile team Centres. The application should include land-related documents such as Khasra and Khatauni, Aadhaar card, PAN card, Udhyan card, bank account details, and mobile number. Currently, the application process is offline.

If a farmer faces difficulty in filling out the application, personnel at the respective Horticulture Mobile team Centre will provide assistance. Once submitted, the application is forwarded by the Centre to the district level, which then sends it to the Directorate. Upon approval of the farmer’s proposal by the Directorate, a government order is issued, authorizing the district to grant approval/work orders accordingly.

Upon acceptance, the district officer sends the farmer an approval letter and informs them via phone. The establishment of the vermicompost unit is then carried out in the presence of departmental officials, followed by an on-site inspection. After verification, the subsidy is disbursed directly into the beneficiary’s bank account.
