Buffalo Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (भैंस उद्यमिता विकास योजना)

The Buffalo Entrepreneurship Development Scheme serves as a strategic initiative aimed at improving livestock productivity in Odisha, particularly for marginalized farmers. This scheme is designed to combat protein deficiency, enhance nutritional quality, and offer sustainable livelihoods through the promotion of dairy farming.

Overview of the Scheme

Initiated by the Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department of the Government of Odisha, the Buffalo Entrepreneurship Development Scheme focuses on elevating livestock productivity among marginalized individuals. This includes farmers, entrepreneurs, and members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) from General, Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories, Persons with Disabilities (PWD), women, and transgender communities. The scheme is applicable across all 30 districts in the state.

Implementation

The Directorate of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services in Odisha, located in Cuttack, oversees the implementation of this scheme through the Chief District Veterinary Officers and their respective field staff.

The scheme offers a substantial subsidy for beneficiaries who opt for constructing a shed:

Note: Beneficiaries belonging to SC, ST, PWD, women, and transgender categories are eligible for a back-ended subsidy of 60%, while the general category qualifies for 50%. The subsidy will be credited directly to the beneficiary’s bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in two phases.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be a farmer, entrepreneur, or a member of an SHG.
  • The applicant should belong to the General, SC, ST categories, or be a member of an SHG, as well as PWD, women, and transgender individuals.
  • The applicant is required to purchase two Graded Murrah she buffaloes, ideally in their 1st or 2nd lactation stage, producing a minimum of 8 liters of milk daily.
  • For PWD applicants, the disability must be assessed at over 40%.
  • Only one individual per family is permitted to receive assistance under this scheme.

To apply for the scheme, follow these steps:

Registration Process:
  • Step 1: Visit the Go-Sugam Portal.
  • Step 2: Click on “Register Now” under the “Apply Button”.
  • Step 3: Fill in the required details (Name, Email, Mobile Number, Address, and Password) and click “Register”. Login credentials will be sent to the registered Email ID/Mobile Number.
Application Process:
  • Step 1: Go to the Go-Sugam Portal.
  • Step 2: Click on “Scheme & Services” and select the scheme by its name.
  • Step 3: Click “Apply” and log in.
  • Step 4: Complete all mandatory fields on the application page and upload the required documents in the specified format. Upon successful submission, you will receive an Application Reference ID.
Check Application Status:
  • Step 1: Click on the “Track Status” link in the menu.
  • Step 2: Enter your Application ID or Mobile Number to check your application status.
