Benefits of the Scheme
- The monthly Disability Allowance is set at ₹2500/-, contingent on meeting eligibility criteria.

- The allowance will be disbursed starting from the month following the approval of the application.
- In the event of the beneficiary’s death, the assistance will cease. If the recipient passes away before receiving the assistance for a designated period, any pending amount will lapse.
- Payments are made directly to the beneficiary’s bank account on a monthly basis.
Eligibility Requirements
- Applicants must be permanent residents of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands or have lived there for over 10 years at the time of application.
- Individuals aged one month or older with a disability of 40% or more are eligible.
- There are no income restrictions to qualify for this allowance.
- The applicant must not be receiving any other financial aid or allowances and should not be employed.
Cancellation of Assistance
The Director of Social Welfare holds the authority to cancel financial assistance at any point if it is discovered that the assistance was granted based on incorrect information or if the conditions for receiving it are no longer met. Additionally, assistance will be terminated if the beneficiary secures employment.
Application Procedure
Offline Application Process
- Step 1: Individuals can obtain the application form free of charge from the Directorate of Social Welfare in Port Blair or the sub-divisional offices of Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs). The form is also available for download from the official website.
- Step 2: Completed applications for financial assistance must be submitted in the prescribed format at the offices of the relevant CDPOs located in Port Blair, Ferrargunj, Rangat, Diglipur, and Car Nicobar.
Verification Process
The applications submitted for the allowance will be verified by the Mukhya Sevikas, who will provide a counter signature. The verified application will then be forwarded to the Director of Social Welfare for final sanctioning.
Notification of Changes
It is mandatory for recipients of the allowance to inform the Director of Social Welfare regarding any changes in their address or employment status within a specified time frame following the change.

Benefits
The quantum of Disability Allowance shall be ₹2500/- per month subject to eligibility.
The financial assistance sanction shall be payable to a disabled person till his/her death subject to the conditions.
Disability allowance shall become payable from the month following the one in which it is sanctioned.
Note: Assistance shall be stopped on the death of the disabled person, if the disabled person dies, before receiving assistance for a particular period, the same shall lapse.

Verification:
The Application for sanction of allowance under the scheme shall be verified by the Mukhya Sevikas with a counter signature or the CDPO concerned and forwarded to the Director (Social Welfare) for sanction.
Change of Address/Employment Status:
It shall be obligatory for the person receiving assistance to inform about the change of address/employment status, if any, to the Director of Social Welfare within days of such change.
